9-10= Started an experimentation book to accompany my sand works
10-12= Drawing large piece
12.30-1.30= Applying for the Gane Trust Award with a peer
Today I concentrated primarily on my drawing. As I have signed up for a group crit with John Wood next monday, I really wanted something new to put up. However, I am unsure if I will be able to finish this in time alongside doing my essay.
The Gane Trust award which I applied for is described as follows;
The Gane Trust is a charity based in Bristol whose aim is to support people engaged in any aspect of craft, design, and the arts. The Trust was created in memory of Crofton Gane the pioneering furniture designer (1877 – 1967).
The Gane Trust has provided an annual travel award for a student studying at Bath Spa University, School of Art & Design for a number of years. The purpose is to encourage and support a student to travel abroad to study an aspect of design or craftsmanship.
Number of awards available: 1
As myself and Hannah have been looking in to courses provided by VAWAA, we sent off an application together to apply for funding to visit Paris. In Paris we would work with ceramicist Sally, for a duration of 4 days. With any time we have to spare, we would spend in galleries. This would be a great opportunity for me in particular, because I am inspired by new architecture that I visit. I have also been told to be more confident with my practise in feedback sessions, so having the opportunity to work with another artist is a way I can grow and develop.
